Installation

Select the correct Concealed vent Cavity Closer for the application.

Set the correct height after the building wrap has been installed, this needs to be positioned to allow a minimum  drip edge of the cladding of 10mm at the base of walls, and 15mm above window and door head flashings, meter box head flashings, apron flashings and inter-story drained joint flashings in accordance with the requirements of NZBC Acceptable solutions E2/AS1

  • For the Concealed Vent Soffit cavity closer adjust the height of the closer to suit the point where the soffit runs into the receiver on the closer (up to a 9mm thick soffit can be used)

They are to be installed in continuous lengths and must be mitred at internal and external corners.

Fix the Concealed Vent cavity Closer using 40x2.5mm hot dip galv clouts @ approximately 400mmcrs

When using the Concealed Vent Soffit Cavity Closer a Flashing Tape is to be used continuously along the top edge of the closer and also on internal of the Soffit Cavity closers over joins in the cavity closer where there are multiple lengths used, this is to be lapped 50mm each side of the join.

  • Allow the cladding to lap 50mm over the concrete slab or floor structure as per E2 External Moisture or as specified

Fit the cavity battens and cladding as specified

The Concealed Vent Cavity Closers in uPVC  do not require painting at the completion of installation. If this is painted, the paint manufacturer’s instructions for painting uPVC must be followed. The mill finish Aluminium Cavity closers  require powder coating or painting with an etch primer undercoat and an epoxy enamel top coat.
